How to prevent wool coats from shrinking

It cost me $1000for a Wool coat, but if we dont know how to prevent clothes from shrinking, the coat will be too expensive for one time. Now here I share you the basic reasons and tips for the treatment. Just Enjoy it~

What causes clothes to shrink

The main reason of shrinkage is the structure and properties of the fabric fibers. The better the hygroscopicity of the fabric fiber, the greater the degree of shrinkage; the tighter the fabric structure, the higher the shrinkage rate. Wool fabrics are easy to shrink, and it is difficult to recover after shrinking. This is caused by the difference between the forward and reverse friction coefficients when the scales of wool fibers move relative to each other.

In addition, the formation of the fabric during the production process will also have a certain impact. For example, in the process of spinning, weaving, printing and dyeing, the fibers and yarns of the fabric are subjected to a series of mechanical stretching and pressing effects, resulting in deformation. Once washed with water, the fibers and yarns are subjected to moisture and heat. The deformed part will quickly recover, so it shrinks.

How to restore clothes that have shrunk

Bubble with baby shampoo

Baby shampoo loosens the fibers in shrunk clothes, allowing them to stretch more easily, thereby restoring shrunk clothes to their original shape. Generally speaking, in addition to satin fabrics, other materials can be used.

Fill the basin with warm water, put some baby shampoo, stir well, immerse the shrunk clothes in the water, soak for about 5 minutes, take out the clothes, squeeze out the water, and then lay them flat on a dry towel;

Next, take a long enough towel, wrap the clothes in the towel and roll it up, open the towel after a few minutes, take out the clothes, stretch to the right size, and dry as normal. Be careful not to stretch the clothes too much and cause deformation.

Use vinegar or borax

This method can be used for wool and cashmere clothing. Add 500 ml of white vinegar per liter of water. After mixing evenly, soak the wool clothes in water for at least 25 minutes. If the clothes have shrunk seriously, you can stretch them a few times while soaking;

Then take out the soaked clothes and wring out the water, also lay the clothes on the towel, roll it into a ball, wring it out, let the towel roll the clothes around for about 10 minutes, take out the clothes, and lay them flat to dry. In the case of borax, the ratio of water to borax is 2:1

Iron with steam

The shrunk clothes are heated with a steam iron, and then the fibers can be lengthened with both hands while they are still hot. Generally speaking, the heating area of the steam iron is limited, and the fiber cannot be stretched a lot at one time, and it needs to be heated and stretched repeatedly. After pulling it all out, use a ruler to measure the total length. If the length is not enough, you can repeat the pulling several times. Be careful not to pull the size too far, and finally adjust it appropriately.

Or put the clothes on a large cardboard to spread them, and then iron them with an iron, and the clothes can be restored to their original shape.

Take it directly to the dry cleaner

If the clothes have shrunk seriously, you can send the clothes directly to the dry cleaner. After the dry cleaning, find a special rack of the same size as the clothes, hang the sweater, and after the high temperature steam treatment, the clothes can be restored to their original state.

How to prevent clothes from shrinking

  1. The quality is guaranteed

Don’t be greedy and buy some low-quality clothes. Poor-quality clothes are generally poor in workmanship and texture, and shrinkage will naturally be more serious.

  1. Read the label before washing

Look at the label before washing clothes. Clothes contain different ingredients and can be washed differently. Clothes with a higher wool content, for example, are more suitable for dry cleaning.

  1. Do not wash for too long

Before the clothes have shrunk, they should not be soaked for a long time in washing, and should be soaked at low or normal temperature.

  1. Do not use hot water

The water temperature of washing clothes is too high, which will destroy the shrinkage of clothes. Generally, the temperature of washing clothes should not exceed 30 degrees.

  1. Electric iron stereotypes

For some clothes that have shrunk slightly, you can lay them flat and set them with an electric iron. First, it can help restore the original shape, and second, it can prevent the problem of shrinking in the future.

6. wool clothes washing

It is best to dry clean. If it is washed with water, choose a softener and use a silk wool detergent with anti-shrinking effect or a special detergent for wool fabrics.

  3. In my opinion that a foreclosure can have a important effect on the applicant’s life. Property foreclosures can have a 6 to a decade negative relation to a debtor’s credit report. The borrower who may have applied for a mortgage or just about any loans as an example, knows that the particular worse credit rating can be, the more hard it is for any decent personal loan. In addition, it could possibly affect a new borrower’s chance to find a respectable place to let or rent, if that gets the alternative property solution. Good blog post.
